Lamine Yamal’s meteoric rise continues: Mbappé left playing catch-up in new ranking
In Transfermarkt’s updated list of market values, the Barcelona wonderkid has overtaken the Real Madrid striker.

Lamine Yamal’s meteoric ascent towards the summit of men’s soccer continues: the Barcelona starlet is now worth more than LaLiga rival and World Cup winner Kylian Mbappé, according to Transfermarkt’s latest estimates.
How much are Lamine and Mbappé worth?
Per the stats website, which updated its transfer valuations today, Lamine’s expected market worth has risen to €180 million ($187 million), while Real Madrid striker Mbappé’s anticipated price tag has dropped to €160 million ($167 million).
This is not the first time Lamine has outdone Mbappé recently. At FIFA’s The Best Football Awards earlier in December, the 17-year-old forward was voted into the global governing body’s Men’s World 11 ahead of the France international. Lamine joined Vinícius Júnior and Erling Haaland in attack in the all-star team, which was chosen by players, coaches, journalists and fans.
Lamine shines as Mbappé struggles to settle in
So far in 2024/25, Lamine and Mbappé have had somewhat different experiences of life in LaLiga. While the former has picked up where he left off in a sparkling 2023/24 - a campaign that culminated with his starring role in Spain’s summer triumph at Euro 2024 - the latter has endured a difficult first few months at Madrid.
Showing only glimpses of his abundant ability, Mbappé has delivered numerous disappointing displays in the first half the season. Notably, the 26-year-old missed key penalties in consecutive away games in late November and early December, in defeats to Liverpool and Athletic Club.
However, although Mbappé has struggled to string together convincing performances since joining Madrid on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in July, he has still managed 14 goals and four assists for Los Blancos in all competitions.
Who is worth more than Lamine in LaLiga?
In LaLiga, there are only two players who match Lamine’s new transfer valuation, according to Transfermarkt’s latest update. Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham has remained on €180 million, while the Englishman’s Bernabéu team-mate Vinícius Júnior continues to share the worldwide No. 1 spot with Manchester City’s Haaland. Both are priced by Transfermarkt at €200 million ($209 million).
