Robert Lewandowski’s exit from Bayern Munich looks to be more likely with every day that passes. All the signs point to Bayern Munich eventually letting the Polish striker leave, as long as they receive an offer from FC Barcelona that meets the 50 million euros asking price. However, if Bayern do fold in, it is only due to the unwavering desire of the player to leave, because the German club are all too aware that if he goes they have no guaranteed replacement for the star.

Who can fill Lewandowski’s boots?

According to newspaper Kicker the Bavarians are having serious problems finding a striker who could fill the gap left by Lewandowski’s exit. The German outfit does not have a suitable replacement if the striker ends up signing for FC Barcelona. One of the options was Harry Kane, the English striker who plays for Tottenham, but that option has finally been ruled out for this summer.

Temporary replacement for Lewi

Everything points to the sports director Hasan Salihamidzic looking for a temporary replacement for Lewandowski and returning to the fray for Kane in 2023. In the current Bayern squad there is no out and out number nine, though they can count on players such as Sadio Mané, Thomas Müller and Serge Gnabry who, although not their natural position, are also capable of playing center forward. Sasa Kalajdzic, Stuttgart striker, was rejected by Bayern bosses.
