Robert Lewandowski underwent preseason medical tests at Bayern Munich on Tuesday, and is expected to train with the club on Wednesday. However, the Pole hopes a move to Barcelona will be sorted out in time to avoid taking part in Bayern’s US tour, with the German champions set to fly out on Monday.

Lewandowski could say Bayern goodbyes on Wednesday

Lewandowski has been promised this will be the case and, per some sources in Poland, the striker could even say goodbye to his Bayern colleagues on Wednesday and start preparing for life in LaLiga.

Although Bayern have sought to maintain a tough stance, they now appear closer to bowing to the 33-year-old’s desire to play for Barça. Lewandowski trusts the word of Blaugrana president Joan Laporta, who promised him that if he took the step of publicly announcing his desire to leave the Allianz Arena, he would not fail him.

The player did so during while on Nations League duty with Poland in June.

Key step now taken, Barcelona feel

The transfer fee for Lewandowski is expected to range between 40 and 50 million euros, but Barça believe that the most important step, removing his not-for-sale tag, has been achieved.

“If we can have Lewandowski with us by the midway point of our tour [of the US, which begins on Saturday], we’ll take that.” That was the verdict of a member of the Barça dressing room when asked by AS about the future of the Poland star.

The feeling at the Camp Nou is that Lewandowski’s efforts to make a Barça move happen will be rewarded, but that he’ll still have to wait a few more days.
