As far as betting portal Caliente.mx is concerned, América are the odds-on favourites to land what would be their 14th title. Tano Ortiz’s team, who also crashed out of the Apertura 2022 at the semis, is at +350 to become champions. They have Pachuca at +450, Monterrey at +650, Tigres at +800 and Toluca at +1100. It’s interesting to note that Chivas and Cruz Azul are at +1200 to win, while a $100 bet on Pumas would rake in $2000 winngs shoukld Rafael Puente Jr’s team go all the way.

  • América +350
  • Pachuca +450
  • Monterrey +650

  • Toluca +1100

Another portal Statiskicks have run 10,000 pre-tournament simulations which revealed América as regular season champions, topping the table ahead of Monterrey, Pachuca and Tigres as the four teams who will qualify directly for the Liguilla.

What is clear is that there will be a handful of clubs who will be aiming to win the Clausura 2023 and bring some happiness to their fans - especially those who have gone several years without silverware, such as Toluca and Pumas, who have gone over a decade without winning a trophy. Others will be motivated for other reasons - for example Apertura 2022 winners Pachuca, who will be striving to become just the fourth club to be crowned back-to-back champions since the short tournament format began.

As in recent years, América, Chivas and Cruz Azul feature among those expected to go far. Necaxa and Atlético San Luis get the Liga MX Clausura 2023 action underway at Estadio Victoria de Aguascalientes on Friday (kick-off: 19:00 hours local time) with Monterrey taking on Chivas in the pick of the fixtures the following day. Following the Liga MX Clausura 2023 on television won’t be straightforward however - only two games will be broadcast live in Mexico while the remainder of the games will be available through various different cable and streaming services such as such as TUDN, ViX, ESPN Fanatiz Mexico and in the US through fuboTV.

Liga MX Clausura big game dates
