Reports coming out of Mercyside earlier today claimed that Liverpool goalkeeper Allison Becker suffered an injury that was likely going to keep him out for the rest of the season and jeopardize his World Cup spot on the Brazilian national team. The keeper went to social media to clarify the confusion.

No new injury says Alisson

Becker missed Liverpool’s last league match before the break. The Reds lost that match, and Carlo Ancelloti let Alisson stay in Liverpool instead of reporting for international duty with Brazil.

Over the last few weeks, speculation has grown into the severity of the keeper’s injury, which has yet to be specified. The only thing that we had heard were reports this morning claiming that it was a long term injury that was likely going to keep him out for the rest of the season, and put his World Cup at risk.

Alisson went to his social media page to clear the air on X. The keeper wrote in Portuguese, “I did not suffer a new injury!” claimed Becker. ”I’m in the treatment phase, and the plan is to be in full playing condition by the end of April!”

City, PSG await

If he is to return within that timeline, it would mean he would be back for Liverpool’s final four league matches. Unfortunately for Arne Slot’s side, their No. 1 keeper will have to miss both legs of the Champions League quarterfinal tie against PSG.

Liverpool are currently fighting for a top four finish to guarantee themselves a spot in next year’s Champions League. Meanwhile they are still gunning for the Champions League but have a difficult draw against the defending champions and they are still alive in the FA Cup.

The first order of business for the Reds is the FA Cup quarterfinal against Manchester City. That will be their first test after the international break, and just days later they travel to Paris to take on PSG. They will be without their keeper, but Slot will have Alexander Isak and Mo Salah back from injury for this crucial part of the season.
