Liverpool have this week tabled a bumper bid for Real Madrid target Kylian Mbappé, according to a report on Spanish television.

Speaking on the soccer show ‘El Chiringuito de Jugones’, the journalist Edu Aguirre claimed that the Premier League club have offered €200 million (around $220 million) for the Paris-Saint Germain star, who is out of contract in the French capital in 2024.

Aguirre added that agreeing personal terms with Mbappé “won’t be a problem” for Liverpool.

Reported bid comes after PSG chief’s Mbappé warning

On Wednesday, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi warned the 24-year-old that he must commit his future to the French champions beyond 2024 if he wants to remain at the club next season.

If Mbappé wants to stay, we want him to stay, but he must sign a new contract,” Al-Khelaïfi told reporters as PSG unveiled Luis Enrique as their new head coach. “We can’t let him go for free.”

Mbappé has told PSG that he does not intend to renew his present deal at the Parc des Princes. Signed in 2022, the agreement runs for two years, with a clause allowing the France striker to unilaterally extend his stay for a further 12 months.

Madrid want Mbappé for free

Madrid, who missed out on a move for Mbappé when he opted to renew his PSG contract last year, are being heavily tipped to sign the player if he departs Paris during the current off season.

However, Los Blancos have so far this summer insisted that they are only interested in taking the World Cup winner to Spain if he becomes available as a free agent in 2024.

As he left a restaurant in the Spanish capital in June, Los Blancos’ president, Florentino Pérez, told a fan: “Mbappé will come to the club, yes… but not this year.”
