Luis Quiñones ruled out of semi-final against Pumas

The Colombian forward has suffered a muscle tear and won’t be risked in Thursday’s first leg. He will probably also miss Sunday’s decider.

Tigres have confirmed that Luis Quiñones will play no part in Thursday’s Apertura 2023 semi-final against Pumas. Coach Robert Dante Siboldi loses a key player - definitely for the first leg in the Ciudad Universitaria on Thursday night and most likely Sunday’s deciding leg at the Volcán. Through a statement, the San Nicolás club confirmed the injury sustained by the Colombian winger, who has ruptured the adductor in his left thigh, adding that his return to training is subject to how he evolves in the next few days.

Luisao missed the second leg of the quarter final against Puebla after feeling discomfort during the warm-up. Siboldi later confirmed in his post-match press conference that the player would undergo tests to determine the severity of the issue.

But just 48 hours later, it has been confirmed that Quiñones won’t be back in time for the first leg against Pumas. And unless he makes a miraculous recovery, he will probably sit out the return leg on Sunday night. It is expected that Siboldi will look to Raymundo Fulgencio as a replacement on the right - a move that paid off in the last match against the Franja.
