Luis Suárez already off the mark in second spell with Nacional
El Pistolero debuted with a goal in the league and missed a penalty in the 3-0 victory against Rentistas.
Although its was not strictly his first appearance in the Uruguayan top flight, Luis Suárez celebrated his Clausura debut in his second spell with Nacional with a win and a goal. Pablo Repetto‘s team beat Rentistas 3-0 in Week 2 of the tournament and Lucho wrapped up the scoring on the night.
The former Liverpool, Barcelona and Atlético Madrid player started on the bench. From there, he watched his team take an early lead when José Luis Rodríguez headed in on two minutes. Just before half-time, the Bolsilludos doubled their lead through Ignacio Ramírez, who beat Machado after a great ball in from Lozano .
Luis Suárez entered the game at the start of the second half, substituting Fagundez and just thirteen minutes later had the ball in the net from a corner. It was his first goal on his return to Nacional. A goal that served to sentence the team’s second game of the season.
Bittersweet debut
Suárez is constantly on the lookout for goals and after getting on the mark, he wanted more. With six minutes left to play, Nacional were awarded a penalty and Lucho put himself forward to take it. Unfortunately, Machado guessed correctly and blocked the Uruguayan’s spot-kick, denying him a second goal.
But Nacional were already home and dry, the win puts them second in the table. Their next match will be on Wednesday against Atlético Goianiense in the second leg of the Copa Sudamericana which they go into trailing 0-1.
