INTER MIAMI

Luis Suárez is back where he belongs, in attack with Lionel Messi

Suárez made his debut with Inter Miami and is back playing alongside Messi.

The last time Luis Suárez and Lionel Messi played in same starting eleven together was four years ago. The pair were instrumental in the great FC Barcelona team that conquered Europe with the Uruguayan and Argentinian leading the way in attack. This time around, they came up against El Salvador, who were able to hold out and stop the lethal duo from scoring in the friendly with Inter Miami.

It was not a dream debut for Suárez; he was involved but was unable to open his account against La Selecta. The veteran striker played 45 minutes at the Cuscatlán Stadium, leading the line and occupying defenders to make space for Messi’s creativity slightly deeper.

Suárez subbed at the break

On the half hour mark, Jordi Alba played a pass into space for Suárez, who played it back to Sergio Busquets. The Spaniard then worked it to Messi, only for the Argentine magician to shoot at Mario González. At the break, Tata Martino decided to take off his heavyweights, including Suárez.

The Uruguayan has emerged as the missing piece in the Inter Miami forward line, demonstrating that the connection that made him great alongside Messi, Busquets, Alba and Co. is still there. It will, of course, only be a matter of time before Suárez finds the net for his new side.
