Luis Suárez to return to Club Nacional
The 35-year-old striker used his social media accounts to confirm that he will return to Uruguay after 16 years and sign a contract with Nacional in the next few hours.
There were rumors that Luis Suárez was to move to Los Angeles Football Club early on Tuesday, but a source close to AS USA confirmed that the team was not going to sign the 35-year-old striker. Hours later, it was the Uruguayan international who confirmed that after 16 years he will return to Club Nacional, and that he has a pre-agreement with the team.
Suárez returns to his boyhood club
“Cheers everyone. First of all I want to thank everyone for the love that my family and I have received in the last few days. It was very special to see all the messages and videos that I have been receiving and that influenced my decision a lot,” said Suárez in a video posted on Twitter.
“I have a pre-agreement with the club and in the next few hours we will sign the contract. So I hope I can enjoy this next chapter in my career, thank you for all the love and I’ll see you soon,” concluded the former FC Barcelona striker.
Last month the former FC Liverpool striker said that he had five or six offers on the table from MLS clubs and that he was contemplating the move to the United States. In the end Suárez decided to return to his boyhood club where he began his professional career in 2005 at age 16. He became a free agent after parting ways with Atlético de Madrid earlier this year.
