Tudor mistakes one of his staffers for Arne Slot in awkward pregame greeting
Tottenham secured a huge point away from home with a 90th minute goal from Richarlison, but interim manager Igor Tudor went viral for a prematch blunder.
It´s been a miserable season at White Hart Lane. Tottenham is fighting for salvation heading into the final stretch of the season, but a draw at Anfield on Sunday might just be a sign that the tides are turning for Igor Tudor’s men.
Tudor’s prematch mistake goes viral
Before the match even started the Croatian manager lit social media ablaze when he appeared to confuse Arne Slot with someone on his own staff. As both teams took the pitch, Tudor looked to give the customary handshake to his opposing manager, but instead embraced Alan Dixon.
Tudor tapped the Tottenham player liaison officer, who has a similar hairstyle or lack there of, on the back and exchanged a few words with Dixon. By the time Tudor got to the Tottenham bench, the clip had already gone viral.
The draw against Liverpool was the first point that Tudor has earned since joining the club in mid February. Three losses in the league and a Champions League embarrassment against Atletico de Madrid preceded the draw at Anfield, but this could just be a sign that brighter days are ahead in North London. Tottenham are 16th in the table, just a point above Nottingham Forest and West Ham with eight match days to go.
