Manchester City have reached an agreement with RB Leipzig for highly-rated defender Joško Gvardiol, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Both clubs have been negotiating the deal in recent weeks for a player who Pep Guardiola sees as the ideal candidate for his back four.
Gvardiol on his way to Etihad
Talks between the Champions League winners and Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig have progressed positively and the Croatia international had already agreed to move to the Etihad Stadium.
Gvardiol signed a contract extension with Leipzig in 2022 and it includes an exit clause of €110m, however, it doesn’t come into play until 2024.
He has already completed the first part of his medical and will soon join up with his new City team-mates for pre-season training.
Due to his ability, Gvardiol is likely to become a regular in Guardiola’s starting eleven from the beginning of the 2023-24 season.
City are expected to sell centre-back Aymeric Laporte this summer, with Athletic Club among the clubs currently showing interest in the 29-year-old.
