Manchester United vs Sevilla preview

Manchester United

The Red Devils will be looking to successfully resume their quest for glory in the Europa League when they face Sevilla in Manchester.

Manchester United will go into the game as favorites to take the lead in their first encounter and looking to advance to the semifinals by defeating a third Spanish team, as they previously eliminated FC Barcelona and Betis.

Erik ten Hag’s men, though, will also need to focus on the Premier League. They recpatured fourth spot with two win in their last two games after a blip in March, but have a number of teams breathing down their neck for European qualification.

Sevilla

The visitors’ situation is quite worse though. They are currently mired in 13th in La Liga with just five points separating them and the relegation zone. Their form has picked up slightly in recent weeks but the threat of relegation still looms large.

However, it seems that Los Nervionenses are living a fairy tale with the Europa League, a tournament they have won on six occasions, four since the 2009-10 campaign, when the competition suffered a change in format, including a merge with the UEFA Intertoto Cup.

Manchester United vs Sevilla: prediction

Given both teams’ campaigns so far and the quality and depth of their squads, the edge is for United, especially given the fact they will play at Old Trafford, although Sevilla shouldn’t be taken lightly.
