Luis Suárez fondly remembers his time at Barcelona in LaLiga, where he formed a historic trio with Lionel Messi and Neymar, the renowned ‘MSN’, which led Barça to a treble win in 2015. “We proved to be great teammates and friends, knowing that if each of us played our role, we would make Barcelona great,” Suárez said in an interview with Clank Media. Regarding their synergy on the field, he emphasized that “the group aspect was important. If one of us wasn’t there, any of the other two could make a difference. If one had a bad day, they would be happy if another scored two or three goals.”

Ultimately, the key to the success of that forward line was that “the relationship between the three of us was spectacular. Off the field, we were on the same wavelength.”

The trio lasted three years, from 2014, when Suárez joined, until 2017, when Neymar left for PSG. Regarding Neymar’s departure, the Uruguayan recalls that both he and Messi warned the Brazilian that “it was a mistake to go to PSG. If Ney wanted to be the best, he had to continue alongside Leo.”

Due to our close relationship, “we had to help him, advise him,” but in the end, “he made his decision, which is respectable. He left a very big void.”

Suárez on the Barça move and news about Miami

Suárez also talked about how he needed to find his own place after his move to Catalonia.

“In Barcelona, I carved out my own space. You look to one side and there’s Messi. On the other side, Ney. There were Xavi, Busquets, Iniesta, and Rakitic. I knew I couldn’t play like I did in Uruguay or Liverpool. You have to adapt to the circumstances.”

Now, Suárez could potentially reunite with Messi at Inter Miami in MLS, although no longer at the highest elite level. While not giving away any hints, he stated, “in a few days or next week there will be news. But I need to rest after the year I had and enjoy time with my family.”
