Messi reaches 100 games with Inter Miami: Here’s how his MLS impact measures up in numbers
Inter Miami host Orlando City on Saturday in what will be landmark game for their captain Lionel Messi. Let’s take a look at his figures.

Now in his third full season with Inter Miami, Lionel Messi still has a number of goals he’d like to achieve in the two and half years he has left in southern Florida.
Winning the CONCACAF Champions Cup would probably feature high on on that list, as would another MLS Cup to add to the one the team won last year. Since joining the franchise from PSG in the summer of 2023, Messi has added three trophies to his extensive honors list - the Leagues Cup (2023), Supporters’ Shield (2024) and the MLS Cup.
This evening, Messi will reach another career milestone - he will make his 100th appearance for Inter Miami who entertain Orlando City at Nu Stadium in matchday 11 of the regular season.
So as Messi hits three figures, let’s take a quick look at how it has worked out for him so far in Miami.
Most goals scored in a single MLS season
In 99 appearances Messi has scored 85 goals. He ended 2025 as the leading goal scorer in MLS with 29 goals after finishing joint second in 2024 with 20 (just two behind DC United’s Christian Benteke).
He is currently high up the ranking in this season’s charts with seven goals in nine games - Nashville’s Sam Surridge and Dallas’ Petar Musa top the classification with nine goals.
Apart from scoring goals, Leo also has a knack of creating them for his Miami team mates. In total, he has racked up 44 assists in all competitions and ended second in the MLS 2025 ranking, just one behind Anders Dreyer. He equaled the record for the most assists in one single game: five, which was set by Kansas City Wizards midfielder Preki in 1996.
Messi holds the MLS record for the most assists in the MLS playoffs: seven. In terms of goal contributions (goals and assists) across all competitions in a season, Leo also holds that record with 68.
