Mexico and the United States: preferred destinations for European summer soccer tours
Whether it’s European Clásicos and other great derbies or match ups with local teams, a trip across the Atlantic is often popular.
Summer tours for European soccer clubs are about to commence, and numerous teams are preparing to embark on their journeys abroad. Real Madrid and Barcelona will once again head to the United States, and on July 29, they will face off in Dallas. This marks the third meeting of these two prestigious clubs in the country, with their previous encounters occurring in 2017 and last year, both resulting in victories for the Catalan side.
LaLiga in the US and Mexico
Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, will be heading to South Korea, where they will take on Manchester City. Then they will travel to Mexico and conclude their preseason in the United States, where they will go up against Sevilla. Valencia has planned five friendly matches, including a stay in Switzerland, before concluding their preseason at Mestalla Stadium against Unay Emery’s Aston Villa.
The recent Europa League champions, Sevilla, have chosen to initiate their preseason preparations in Spain. They have settled in the Montecastillo hotel in Jerez (Cádiz). The team will spend 12 days there, until July 20, before embarking on a tour of the United States and Mexico. During this tour, they will compete against Crystal Palace, Real Betis, and, as mentioned, Atlético.
Then there’s Ernesto Valverde’s Athletic Bilbao who will face off against Chivas in Guadalajara and CD Necaxa in Aguascalientes, before returning to Spain and the United Kingdom. Betis have their own tour of both the US and Mexico.
There’s no doubt that Mexico and the United States have become popular destinations for Spanish teams, as well as those from the English Premier League and beyond. In addition to intense training sessions, the teams will have the opportunity to relax and enjoy the luxurious facilities before the start of the new season.
