Although early reports suggest that Charlotte FC are in pole position to sign German striker Marco Reus in the summer, another rival interested in the Dortmund icon have entered the fray with LA Galaxy also monitoring the striker.

According to The Athletic’s MLS correspondent Tom Bogert, Reus will not make a decision until after the Champions League final, which will be played next Saturday, 1 June at Wembley Stadium when the German side face Real Madrid.

Charlotte has the discovery rights to secure the German player’s signature so the Los Angeles outfit would have to pay a significant amount to be able to transfer the rights to the team from California with Bogert claiming that Dean Smith’s team would demand a record amount to transfer the ‘Discover Rights’ for Reus

The current record is held precisely by the LA Galaxy, who received $500,000 to transfer the rights of Paul Arriola to DC United but The Athletic maintain that the figure for the BVB striker would be well above said amount.

Reus’s last dance with BVB

While Reus’ future remains up in the air, the player will hope to get some playing time in what will be his last time in the famous black and yellow as Dortmund look to secure their second ever European Cup in London with opponents Real Madrid gunning for a record 15th European triumph.

Reus said goodbye to his teammates at Signal Iduna Park last Saturday as Borussia Dortmund wrapped up their Bundesliga campaign with a 4-0 win over relegated Darmstadt with Reus getting among the goals and receiving a standing ovation as he was subbed with twelve minutes of the match to go.
