Mourinho: I received a contract offer but I didn’t want to look at it
Speaking ahead of Benfica’s crunch league clash against Estoril, José Mourinho said As Águias have offered him a new deal.

Benfica head coach José Mourinho spoke to the media ahead of the final match of the Portuguese league season, with a Champions League berth on the line against Estoril on Saturday. In a press conference, he revealed he had received a contract extension offer from As Águias - but chose not to even look at it.
“I’ll only do that starting Sunday”
Asked directly whether the Lisbon giants had offered him a new deal, Mourinho responded: “Yes, on Wednesday I received a contract renewal offer from Benfica. It was handed to my agent, but I didn’t want to see it, learn the details, or analyze it. I’ll only do that starting Sunday.”
Mourinho, who is believed to be an end-of-season target for Real Madrid, said he had not received any approach from Los Blancos. “As for Real Madrid, no one has ever told me there was an offer to show me,” said the 63-year-old, who previously coached the LaLiga giants between 2010 and 2013. “But if they had, I would have given exactly the same answer.”
Mourinho added that he had not watched the explosive press conference given by Madrid’s club president, Florentino Pérez, on Tuesday: “If I do, I won’t comment on it - I never do when it comes to club presidents, and even less so with Florentino.”
What does Benfica need to reach the UCL?
Benfica enters the final round of the Portuguese leagues season sitting third with 77 points, two behind Sporting CP. To secure a Champions League spot, they must win away at Estoril and hope Sporting is held to a draw by Gil Vicente. If both teams finish level on points, Benfica would leap into second place.
