As the celebrations mellow following the turn of the new year, we note that 2023 will be a special year for the Rayos del Necaxa. This is due to the fact that on 21 August, the club from the city of Aguascalientes will be celebrating something else, 100 years of their history. To commemorate the event the club has decided to make a modification to their badge.

The change is not drastic and the shape of the shield remains the same, with three points and three stars at the top, with the main difference being the disappearance of the club name and a tweak to the classic red and white stripes.

The red stripes now form the number ‘100′ in reference to the founding of the club on 21 August 1923 in Mexico City by the Scottish engineer William H. Frasser, a former general manager of the defunct electricity supplier company ‘Luz y Fuerza’, hence the club’s nickname.
