After days of uncertainty about whether Dani Alves would continue with Pumas after Qatar 2022, the player himself went onto social media to confirm that he will play the Clausura 2023 wearing the UNAM Pumas university shirt, as was written into his contract signed in mid-2022. Dani Alves sent a motivational message to the fans after a disappoint first season with the club.

Via his Instagram account, Dani Alves published his first post of 2023 in which, in addition to a motivational message, he confirmed that he will continue with the team: “Every change requires adaptation, call it what you want... but acceptance, knowledge and learning are ways towards intelligence.”

“So we head into a second season with the confidence and personality that characterises us. Always be positive and eager to change the history of the PEOPLE. Follow me, GOOD people.”

“See you soon, Pumas boyz” Dani Alvez said.

The 39-year-old footballer is looking for revenge in the Clausura 2023. Last year, despite playing every game with Pumas in Liga MX, Alves was the subject of criticism in a difficult season for the club.

However, things may take a postive turn as for this upcoming tournament, Dani Alves and Pumas have a new technical director: Rafael Puente del Río arrived on the bench for the tournament that starts on 6 January; the club will debut on Sunday 8 January when they host FC Juárez.
