New Neymar controversy after allegedly insulting two teammates

Neymar is rarely far from controversy, and the Brazilian star is back in the headlines following another alleged dressing-room incident.

The Santos forward rescued a point for his team on Saturday with two goals, including a stunning strike, in a draw against Chapecoense. But according to Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte, tensions boiled over at halftime despite Santos holding the lead.

What did Neymar allegedly do?

The report claims Neymar harshly criticized two teammates during the break, allegedly crossing the line with his comments.

According to Globo Esporte, Neymar told Gabriel Bontempo that he was “shit” and said that next season he would be playing against Chapecoense again—but in Brazil’s Serie B. Chapecoense currently sits at the bottom of the standings.

João Ananias was reportedly the second target of Neymar’s anger, with the Brazil international allegedly questioning the midfielder’s technical ability during the heated exchange.

Globo Esporte says the confrontation had a negative impact on the team. Santos surrendered its lead within the first 10 minutes of the second half, with Ananias scoring an own goal during the collapse.

Neymar and Santos stay silent

After the match, and once reports of the incident emerged, both Bontempo and Ananias denied having a personal confrontation with Neymar. Instead, they acknowledged there had been a general dressing-room dressing-down at halftime rather than an argument directed at specific players.

Neither Neymar nor his communications team has commented publicly on the allegations.

Santos, meanwhile, has scheduled an extraordinary meeting on Sunday to investigate the reported incident and determine what action, if any, should be taken.
