Olise remains Real Madrid’s chosen galáctico

Update:

Michael Olise captivated fans in his first game at the World Cup, much as he did during Bayern Munich’s Champions League semifinal showdown with Real Madrid. The Bernabéu crowd was already familiar with the French international, but from the moment he dazzled on Madrid’s home turf, attention across Europe intensified.

Can Real Madrid really sign Olise?

The belief inside Madrid continues to grow that Olise is a special talent with virtually no ceiling. The Bundesliga star remains under close observation, and each new performance only strengthens the conviction that he is the player the club wants most. The quiet and reserved attacker continues to exceed expectations every time he takes the field.

The club’s recent presidential election campaign temporarily slowed several sporting operations, but it also reignited Real Madrid’s desire to pursue what many within the organization already view as one of soccer’s next great global stars. That is how they see Olise. As a result, efforts are underway to explore a move that currently appears extremely difficult. Even so, Real Madrid has overcome similar challenges over the last 25 years. During the election campaign, senior club executives held discussions that left the door open to future negotiations.

As previously reported by this newspaper, Olise was identified as the club’s chosen “Galáctico,” a label he has already earned in many corners of the soccer world. Initial contacts were made during the campaign period in search of common ground. Those conversations helped open a channel with Bayern, which remains reluctant to sell but understands that the situation could become far more complicated if the player ultimately gives Real Madrid a definitive green light.

After securing victory in the presidential election, club leaders – and particularly Florentino Pérez – fulfilled a campaign promise by submitting a $173 million offer for a player considered among the world’s elite. That bid was made for Julián Álvarez and was unusually public for a club that rarely confirms transfer proposals. The move was widely viewed as evidence that campaign promises were backed by concrete action and demonstrated the strength of Pérez’s mandate through 2030.

Bayern Munich stand firm over Olise’s future

Real Madrid continues to work toward signing the player who has arguably made the greatest impact on world soccer over the past year. Bayern Munich, a club known for resisting the sale of its biggest stars before eventually acknowledging market realities, remains committed to discouraging potential suitors.

For now, Bayern’s message remains unchanged: Olise is not for sale. Yet the decisive voice may ultimately belong to the player himself. Should that moment arrive, Bayern would be prepared to negotiate. Reports in Germany suggest that any eventual deal could surpass the record $256 million transfer fee Paris Saint-Germain paid for Neymar in 2017.

Ironically, PSG – Neymar’s former club – is considered Real Madrid’s main rival in the race for the France international selected by Didier Deschamps. However, because of the strong relationship between the two clubs, there is an expectation that any losing bidder would step aside rather than engage in a prolonged battle. The same spirit of respect applies to Bayern Munich, another club with which Real Madrid has long sought to maintain cordial relations, even in the middle of high-stakes transfer negotiations.
