Philadelphia Union’s goalkeeper Holden Trent dies at age 25: What do we know about the cause of death?
The goalie, an “incredible competitor”, had been in intensive care since Thursday according to reports.
Holden Trent, a goalkeeper with Philadelphia Union II, passed away this Saturday. He was 25.
Trent was admitted to intensive care on Thursday. Neither the club or his family have revealed the cause of death.
Philadelphia Union issues club statement
The club released a statement in the wake of Trent’s passing.
“The Philadelphia Union is devastated by the heartbreaking passing of Holden Trent. While he was a wonderful player and fierce competitor, he was more importantly a devoted son, brother, fiancé, and teammate who made those around him better. He embodied the true meaning of determination, dedication and perseverance, and he will be deeply missed. We extend our greatest sympathies to his family, his fiancé,and his friends.”

Trent was from Greensboro, North Carolina, and played college soccer at West Virginia and High Point.

Holden Trent’s family issued a statement abou the death of Holden Trent: “We want to thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Holden passed away this afternoon surrounded by his family and friends,” the post read. “Details on services and celebration of life are forthcoming. Our family is deeply touched to see and experience the love you all have for Holden.”
