Possible Manchester United XI vs Sevilla in Europa League first leg at Old Trafford
Marcus Rashford will miss the Europa League tie with Sevilla.
Manchester United welcome Sevilla to Old Trafford on Thursday for their Europa League quarter-final first leg.
Marcus Rashford has been ruled out of the game through injury but the club have received a boost with the return of Christian Eriksen against Everton on Saturday. The Denmark international made his first appearance since January when he came off the bench in the 2-0 victory.
Left-back Luke Shaw is also unavailable for the Sevilla clash due to an injury picked up in the league against Brentford. Tyrell Malacia should deputise for the England international.
Anthony Martial scored in the win over Everton and could be set for a place in the forward line.
United midfielders return
Ahead of the game against the Spanish side, United head coach Erik ten Tag spoke about the importance of having midfielders Casemiro and Eriksen back in the squad.
Casemiro, who has been excellent since joining from Real Madrid, returns after serving a four-game ban.
“It is obvious and clear they are two very valuable players for us,” admitted Ten Hag.
“We all know how important the midfield department is. Over several games, we had to find a new balance and that is not easy at this stage of the season.”
United against Spanish opposition
Sevilla are the fourth LaLiga side that the Premier League club have faced in the Europa League this season. On the way to Thursday’s fixture against José Luis Mendilibar’s team, United have played Real Sociedad, Real Betis and Barcelona.
Possible Manchester United starting XI vs Sevilla
United could line out as follows in the first leg at Old Trafford:
De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martínez, Malacia; Casemiro, Sabitzer, Fernandes; Antony, Martial, Sancho.
