PSG line up 200 million war chest for attacking reinforcements
The Ligue 1 champions have some big names in their sights, with Harry Kane and Bernardo Silva reportedly among the priorities for the Parisians.
Paris Saint-Germain enters the month of July with several important tasks ahead. In addition to announcing five new signings and the arrival of Luis Enrique as manager, they must finalise their squad for the upcoming season in order to make a strong push for the long-awaited Champions League title. Despite already spending over €105 million (c.$115m) in the current transfer market, with 55 million for Ugarte and 50 million for Lucas Hernández, the club is said to still has enough funds to pursue two high-quality attackers.
Kane and Silva in PSG plans
According to Le Parisien, PSG has a budget of 200 million euros to bolster their attacking options. However, in order to comply with the new Financial Fair Play regulations, the club will need to sell some players to balance the books. The departures of Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos, who were significant earners, have provided some relief for the Ligue 1 champions. PSG now aims to build a formidable offensive line, having already reinforced their defence with Skriniar and Lucas Hernández.
At the moment, the priority target for PSG is Bernardo Silva. The talented right winger from Manchester City, who can also play in midfield, is highly desired by Luis Campos, who previously signed him for Monaco when he was still relatively unknown at Benfica. Both Campos and Luis Enrique want to secure his signature, with plans to utilise him on the right wing. The left wing position is still uncertain, as it remains to be seen whether Kylian Mbappé will continue in that role.
Mbappé question mark and Kane back-up plan
PSG dream of pairing Mbappé with Bernardo Silva, as well as a top-class striker, with Harry Kane being their preferred choice. Nasser Al Khelaïfi recently travelled to London to meet with Kane’s representatives, despite Tottenham’s repeated refusals to sell. While Kane has one year left on his contract, acquiring him would require a significant financial effort, potentially amounting to 120 million euros, highlighting the challenging negotiation stance of Daniel Levy.
Should the pursuit of Harry Kane prove unsuccessful, PSG’s sporting management has identified other targets such as Victor Osimhen and Gonçalo Ramos.
Osimhen, who excelled in Serie A with Napoli, is highly valued by his club, and there have been rumors of a potential 200-million-euro price tag. Alternatively, Campos might find it more feasible to pursue Silva’s compatriot Ramos, a promising young striker from Benfica who showcased his talents during the recent World Cup. The coming weeks will be crucial for PSG as they work to shape their future plans, particularly regarding superstar Mbappé.
