Real Madrid set to complete signing of France international Aurélien Tchouaméni

Tchouaméni will sign for Real Madrid, according to RMC Sport. Monaco are set to accept the offer of €80 million from the Champions League winners.

Update:
Real Madrid set to complete signing of France international Aurélien Tchouaméni

Aurélien Tchouaméni will sign for Real Madrid in the coming days, according to French outlet RMC Sport.

Tchouaméni is close to completing a move to the Spanish capital. The midfielder, who has already told his team-mates of his desire to join Real Madrid, will leave France for a fee in the region of €80 million.

Talks with the player have advanced since March and Tchouaméni has declared his interest in signing for the La Liga giants. After Kylian Mbappé rejected the European champions, Madrid had the required funds to complete a deal for the France international.

Mbappé tried to change Tchouaméni’s mind

Liverpool and PSG have also been interested in signing Tchouaméni, making the operation longer than expected. Mbappé, after renewing his contract with PSG, called the midfielder to try to convince him to sign for the Ligue 1 club, but Tchouaméni had made it clear that he did not want to stay in France.

PSG have tried to convince Tchouaméni that in Paris he had, in addition to a bigger offer than Real Madrid, a team capable of winning the Champions League. The former Bordeaux player’s position has remained firm. If he left Monaco, it was to play either in the Premier League or in Spain with Real Madrid.

RMC Sport reported several weeks ago that he had reached an agreement with Real Madrid and Liverpool despite PSG’s insistence on trying to sign the player. Last week, Tchouaméni agreed to join Real Madrid.

Monaco to cash in

Monaco, who failed to secure Champions League football for next season, had tried to take advantage of PSG’s interest to increase the price of the deal. If the sale is completed, Tchouaméni would become the second most expensive sale in Monaco’s history, behind the €180 million paid by PSG for Mbappé.

Tchouaméni’s signing would be a coup for Real Madrid. Alongside Eduardo Camavinga, Carlo Ancelotti would have two of the finest young midfielders in Europe.

Tchouaméni has already confirmed his elite status, starting for France in the Nations League final against Spain. He has dominated in Ligue 1 and is coming off the best season of his short career. The 22-year-old is capable of playing both as a defensive midfielder in a 4-3-3 formation and in a double pivot.
