Update:

Mendizorroza and this Sunday are set to be forever remembered in the career of a Real Madrid player: Víctor Valdepeñas. With absences piling up across the pitch, and especially in defence, Xabi Alonso finds himself without any of his three natural left-backs. Mendy is injured, while Carreras and Fran García are both suspended.

Camavinga, who had been used as an emergency option by Carlo Ancelotti, is also sidelined. As a result, everything points to the coach handing an opportunity to the Castilla player, who was already included in the squad against Manchester City.

Once again, Madrid will line up with a makeshift defence. Valverde is expected to continue at right-back, Asencio is a guaranteed presence in central defence, and his partner remains uncertain between Rüdiger and Huijsen, both of whom are being carefully managed. Another academy product, Joan Martínez, will be waiting on the bench for his chance.

Without Camavinga and with Valverde shifted to full-back, the spot alongside Tchouameni in midfield appears open for Ceballos. If the 4-4-2 used against City is repeated, the wide positions would again be occupied by Rodrygo, who redeemed himself with his goal, and Bellingham. There is one change up front. With Mbappé back available, the Frenchman will return to the starting line-up alongside Vinicius, replacing Gonzalo.

That leaves Xabi Alonso with a probable starting eleven at Mendizorroza of: Courtois; Valverde, Asencio, Rüdiger or Huijsen, Valdepeñas; Rodrygo, Tchouameni, Ceballos, Bellingham; Mbappé and Vinicius.

The squad is completed by: Lunin, Mestre; Joan Martínez, Güler, Cestero, Thiago Pitarch, Mastantuono, Brahim and Gonzalo.
