Real Madrid travel to San Sebastián to take on Real Sociedad on Tuesday with some key men unavailable.

Luka Modric (hamstring), Fede Valverde (foot) and Vinícius (knee) will all miss the trip north. Valverde and Vinícius will be fit for the Copa del Rey final, however, the Croatian is still a doubt.

Vinícius was suspended anyway (yellow cards) but is expected to be back for the final against Osasuna in Seville. Valverde could join the squad at the last minute, but it looks unlikely.

Alaba won’t be risked

David Alaba, who returned to training today for the first time since picking up an injury at Stamford Bridge, is expected for back for the final, but he is not fit to play against Real Sociedad. And he won’t take that risk five days before a final.

Ferland Mendy is back running and doing gym work, although he is a bit behind the Austrian. At the moment he is not doing any ball work, and will therefore miss Tuesday’s fixture and could also miss the final.

The versatile Eduardo Camavinga will miss out through suspension.

Castilla players called in

Due to the injuries, Carlo Ancelotti had to use some Castilla players for his training session. Peter, Javi Villar, Nico Paz and Noel all joined the first team to make up the numbers.

Ancelotti is considering taking Paz to San Sebastián as he will have to add to his matchday squad.

“I will make changes, but not because of the Cup final, because some players will need it,” he said about planning for Tuesday.

Possible Real Madrid XI vs Real Sociedad

Ancelotti’s team to play Real Sociedad could be as follows: Courtois; Carvajal, Militao, Rüdiger, Nacho; Tchouaméni, Ceballos, Kroos; Asensio, Benzema, Rodrygo.
