Omar Marmoush is currently regarding as one of the world’s in-form players, leading Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2024-25 Bundesliga season. As time progresses, he is expected to assume greater responsibilities within the Egyptian national team. And during the November FIFA international window, Marmoush will have a golden opportunity, as Liverpool star Mohamed Salah will be absent to get some required down time.

Prince Marmoush leading in place of King Salah

At 25, Marmoush is experiencing a remarkable period in Germany’s top division, significantly impacting Dino Toppmöller’s squad. Over 16 official matches across the Bundesliga, UEFA Europa League, and DFB Pokal, Marmoush has tallied 14 goals and 10 assists. In comparison, Salah has recorded 10 goals and 10 assists in 17 games.

Wearing the number 7 jersey for the Eagles at Deutsche Bank Park, Marmoush leads Europe’s top five leagues in goal contributions (24), attracting interest from clubs like Liverpool (Salah’s contract is running down) and Bayern Munich, as reported by outlets such as TNT Sports. Additionally, according to Sofascore, Marmoush has received higher ratings than players like Harry Kane, Raphinha, and Florian Wirtz.

The November FIFA international window brings the Pharaohs two Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers: an away match against Cape Verde on Friday, November 15, and a home game against Botswana in Cairo on Tuesday, November 19. Egypt currently leads Group C with 12 points, allowing Salah to receive some rest and leaving Marmoush to step up and take on a greater role.

Marmoush looking to respond for Egypt

Since making his debut for the Egyptian senior team in October 2021, Marmoush has scored only six goals across 34 matches. The Eintracht star’s first goal came in his debut on October 8, 2021, against Libya in the CAF Qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Following that, his most significant goal might be the one he scored against Ghana (2-2) in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations. His latest goal for the Pharaohs was on September 6, during Matchday 1 of the Qualifiers for the next Africa Cup of Nations, where he netted one in a 3-0 victory over Cape Verde. In October’s FIFA window, he went scoreless, and now he’s eager to find the back of the net once again.
