Reynolds and McElhenney join Wrexham parade

Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney celebrate the team as they now move on to the fourth tier of English soccer after a 15-year absence.

Update:

Wrexham has been promoted to the fourth tier of English soccer after they won the National League at the end of the season. Much credit for its recent success has been given to co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who bought the team in 2020.

Thousands of fans gathered at Wrexham’s Town Hill to celebrate Wrexham in a parade. It was a sea of red on the streets as three buses with the Wrexham men and women players (the women’s side was also promoted to the Genero Adran Premier) and the Hollywood owners on board.

Reynolds and McElhenney have dreams of moving all the way up to the Premier League. Though still far away, they believe it’s “100% possible”.

“Of course our goal is to get to the Premier League,” said Reynolds. “Why wouldn’t it be, if we can do that? Whether it takes five years, whether it takes 20 years, that’s the goal, that’s the mission.”

Reynolds, who said the victories he witnessed with Wrexham were better than any Hollywood script, is watching highlights of their win over Boreham Wood on repeat, saying he’s addicted. Thanks to he and McElhenney, the club isn’t just gaining recognition, but overall success as well.
