Romell Quioto sealed the victory for CF Montréal over the weekend in the 2-0 win against the Chicago Fire at Soldier Field. The Honduran international continues his tear so far this season and he has scored 15 goals in 25 appearances helping the Canadian team to be on the brink of securing a spot in the 2022 MLS Cup playoffs.

Quioto is about to make history in MLS

Earlier this month, Romell Quioto became the all-time Honduran leading scorer in Major League Soccer history with 44 goals across all competitions and he surpassed his compatriot Amado Guevara. Now, he is close to becoming the all-time Central American leading scorer in MLS history, needing just five more goals to achieve it.

During the 2002 MLS regular season, Alex Pineda Chacón scored 19 goals with Miami Fusion FC and Quioto could surpass that mark with seven games left in this campaign. The bad news is that the Honduran international had to exit via stretcher against the Fire and he could miss the upcoming fixture against the New York Red Bulls on 31 August.

Montréal is in second place in the standings in the Eastern Conference with a record of 15 wins, four draws and eight defeats for 49 points, five less than first place Philadelphia Union. A top two finish will secure them home field advantage during the first round of playoffs.
