Sergio Ramos off the mark in his second outing for Monterrey

The Spanish defender was on target in the team’s 4-2 win against Santos - a trademark header, typical of his Real Madrid days.

Update:

The decision to sign Sergio Ramos appears to be already paying off for Monterrey. The Spanish defender, who made his debut last week against Atlético San Luis, scored his first goal for his new club in his second appearance.

Ramos and Canales combine against Santos

The 38-year-old was once again in the starting lineup as Rayados hosted Santos Laguna on Sunday. His moment arrived on 57 minutes - Ramos came racing into the box to meet a deep cross and plant a diving header past Carlos Acevedo. His first goal for his new club brought back memories of his golden days at Real Madrid - and it was his old Madrid teammate Sergio Canales who supplied the cross.

His celebration was equally memorable, with Estadio BBVA rocking to its core, much like it had two weeks ago. The captain sprinted over towards the corner spot, tongue out and his hand cupping his right ear and finished it with a victory slide and a huddle with the rest of the team.

After more than nine months without competitive football, Ramos is back, making his presence felt quickly and decisively in the Liga MX.

Monterrey are 10th in the table on 15 points after 10 games - just three points behind Cruz Azul who occupy sixth.
