Sterling's typical determination and drive

With Premier League title number four added to his collection last season and his overall game constantly improving, Raheem Sterling’s imminent move to Chelsea is one that has raised some eyebrows.

Many would expect a key component of a prolific title-winning team to stay put, but Sterling is built differently. At the age of 27, Raheem is truly living the dream. Ten years into his professional career, we are talking about a player who already deserves to be mentioned in any conversation about the best British players ever. He was the 17-year-old boy wonder at Liverpool, the one who dared to dream at City. Now, at Chelsea, he has an opportunity to be the main man.

While there is reason for excitement over such a massive move, there is an elephant in the room that many believe needs to be discussed.

Mayowa Quadri believes Sterling returning to where he was racially abused is typical of his determination and drive.

Gareth Bale hails ‘incredible’ LAFC reception

Gareth Bale hailed the “incredible reception” he received after being presented to the Los Angeles FC fans for the first time since his move to the MLS leaders.

The former Real Madrid and Tottenham forward recently joined the MLS franchise on a one-year deal, which could be extended through to 2024, following his departure from Los Blancos.

The Wales international will be hoping for plenty of game time ahead of the World Cup later this year, and what will be the Dragons’ first appearance at the finals since 1958.

Bale arrived in California on Friday and received a rapturous reception at the Banc of California Stadium when he was paraded to the supporters ahead of his new side’s ‘El Trafico’ derby against rivals LA Galaxy.

Cristiano Ronaldo unwanted by Tuchel

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel isn’t on board with the Blues' interest in wantaway Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo, reports the Daily Mail.

According to the UK newspaper, Tuchel (not unjustifiably) fears the arrival of the 37-year-old would be rather a spanner in the works for his plans for a fluid forward line potentially made up of Raheem Sterling, Kai Havertz and Raphinha.

Cristiano has told United he wants the club to listen to offers for him this summer, just a year after he returned to Old Trafford. The Portuguese is currently absent from the Red Devils’ preseason tour of Malaysia, albeit the club maintains he has stayed behind for family reasons.

Haaland takes No. 9 shirt at Man City

in case you missed the news yesterday, Manchester City have confirmed that new signing Erling Braut Haaland is to wear No. 9 at the Etihad Stadium. The shirt became available when its former incumbent, Gabriel Jesus, signed for fellow Premier League side Arsenal earlier this month.

"Synonymous with goalscorers, the No.9 is iconic at City and has previously been worn by hugely popular figures such as Francis Lee, Brian Kidd, Joe Royle, Trevor Francis, Paul Dickov, Niall Quinn and Paulo Wanchope," the club said, in a quote that's a gentle reminder, if you needed one, that the Sky Blues haven't always led the way in England.
