Szoboszlai swaps Leipzig for Liverpool
Liverpool have confirmed that the Hungarian international will move to Anfield as part of a five year deal with the Reds.
Liverpool have announced the signing of Dominik Szoboszlai (Székesfehérvár, Hungary, 2000), who signs for a five year term. The Hungarian midfielder arrives from RB Leipzig for a price close pushing 70 million euros and becomes the third most expensive for the club behind Van Dijk ( €85M) and Darwin Núñez (€80M).
“I have enjoyed the last few days and I am excited to meet everyone,” explains the 22-year-old midfielder on the LFC. “I’m finally here, happy, and I’m looking forward to starting. This is a historic club, with good players, a good coach... everything is good. For me it’s perfect to come to a club like this”.
Szoboszlai has chosen the number 8 shirt for the 2023/24 season and explains the choice: “I wanted to be number 8, I have a Steven Gerrard tattoo [a phrase of his]. That is the reason. He was one of my idols since I was a child.”
The Hungarian becomes the second signing of the summer for Liverpool. Almost a month ago they secured the services of World Cup winner MacAllister from Brighton. Klopp is now beginning to reconstruct the side’s midfield following the exit of the likes of Keïta, Milner and Oxlade-Chamberlain.
