The América players’ touching tribute to outgoing boss Jardine
André Jardine, who has ended his three-year spell at Club América, was visibly moved by a farewell video featuring Las Águilas’ players.
Club América officially announced the departure of André Jardine as head coach, bringing to a close one of the most successful stretches in the Liga MX club’s history.
Jardine moved to tears
After confirming Jardine’s exit, América shared a special video on social media in which several members of the squad delivered farewell messages, expressing their gratitude to the outgoing coach.
The clip captured the Brazilian’s emotional reaction, as he was unable to hold back tears in response to the affection and appreciation shown by the players with whom he built a winning era. “This means more to me than all the trophies we won,” Jardine said.
A trophy-laden América stint
The 46-year-old’s tenure in charge of América produced impressive numbers. He oversaw 162 official matches, posting a record of 85 wins, 41 draws and 36 losses. His teams scored 310 goals while conceding 189.
Under his leadership, Las Águilas captured three consecutive Liga MX titles, a feat that cemented his place as one of the club’s greatest coaches. Those championships were complemented by a Campeón de Campeones crown, earned on the back of the club’s dominance during the 2023/24 season.
However, that domestic success did not translate to the international stage. In the Leagues Cup, América’s best showing came with a run to the quarterfinals in the 2024 edition, while in the CONCACAF Champions Cup they fell just short of the final after being eliminated by Pachuca in the 2024 semifinals.
