The money at stake for reaching the Champions League final: how much do the finalists earn?

The teams that have reached the Champions League semifinals have a double prize waiting in this round. Reaching the final would leave them one game from lifting the Champions League trophy – and would also secure a very lucrative multimillion-dollar payout. It would be a double success for the finalists on May 30 in Budapest, Hungary.

UEFA Champions League prize money breakdown

The clubs have been steadily swelling their coffers with UEFA’s performance-related prize money. Teams that reached the round of 16 received $12 million. Reaching the quarterfinals was worth $13.4 million, while making the semifinals brought in $16.1 million for Atlético Madrid, Bayern Munich, PSG and Arsenal.

The teams that play in the final of the new-look Champions League will each receive $19.9 million. Those are extremely generous sums, adding an extra incentive. Winning the final is also handsomely rewarded: $26.8 million for lifting the trophy into the Budapest sky.
