Inter Miami and Casemiro reach complete agreement
The 34-year-old midfielder will sign for the Florida club in the coming days. He rejected offers from Europe and Saudi Arabia.
Casemiro and Inter Miami are on the verge of the kind of partnership the Florida club believes will help drive its continued growth and one that MLS would welcome with open arms. The agreement between the two parties is fully in place, with the plan being to finalise the signing in the coming days.
The midfielder is currently focused on Brazil’s national team and wants to concentrate on the match against Norway. Once that is over, the expectation is that he will sign the deal while Brazil remain in Miami, provided they eliminate Norway.
For Casemiro, the move is about more than family considerations. It is also the fulfilment of a dream to play alongside Lionel Messi. Despite receiving more lucrative offers from both Europe and Saudi Arabia, Miami was always his preferred destination.
From Inter Miami’s perspective, as AS has learned, the pursuit of the Brazilian once again underlines the club’s enormous ambition. The objective is to win a second consecutive MLS Cup, an achievement that would be historic both for the league and for the Florida franchise, which had never won a major trophy before Messi’s arrival.
Casemiro will also join the exclusive group of players who have shared a dressing room with both Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, alongside the likes of Gerard Piqué, Ángel Di María, Sergio Ramos and Gonzalo Higuaín.
