Within minutes of the official announcement of Messi’s arrival on 7 June, ticket prices for the Leagues Cup clash between Inter Miami and Cruz Azul rose from $40 to over $500. Now, there are no available tickets for less than $1,100 on the Vivid Seats tickets portal.

Ticket prices have shot up considerably for all of Inter Miami’s games between now and when the regular season reaches its conclusion on 21 October - for example, a seat at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles to watch LAFC vs Inter Miami on 3 September will set you back $400.
