Trent Alexander Arnold acknowledged that “something’s not going right” at Liverpool following their 1-2 loss to Leeds United.

The host’s problems started early and were 0-1 down in the opening minutes after Joe Gomez failed to find goalkeeper Alisson with a simple backpass; Leeds forward Rodrigo Moreno was on hand to tap the loose ball into the net from close range.

Liverpool levelled the score when Salah hooked in a Robertson cross. The subdued Anfield atmosphere picked up after this point, but it would be the Leeds fans who had the final song in the stands after 21 year-old winger Crysencio Summerville poked home the winner in the 89th minute.

TAA admits Liverpool are feeling the pressure

Alexander-Arnold did not openly question the methods of the team, but he did leave a hint about the difficult mental state the players find themselves in: ”I’d say we all believe in ourselves, we believe in the way we play, the squad and what we can achieve”, said the defender, “but I think when you do get setbacks, it can potentially make you second-guess yourself and question things. Clearly as a team something’s not going right, it’s not going as well as we want it to go.”

The full-back was quick to highlight the importance of the upcoming game, away at Tottenham Hotspur: [The problems] are something for everyone to think about, for everyone to address and make sure we put it right, especially next week against Spurs, top-four rivals. We kind of need to go there and get some points if we’ve got any chance of reaching our aims and aspirations for the season.”
