USMNT announce Colombia friendly: Stadium, date, time, broadcasters
The United States will host this summer’s Copa América and have a tough pre-tournament fixture.
A busy summer of international action for the United States begins with a game against Colombia in June. The South America nation come into the game on a 19-game unbeaten run and will provide a stern test for USMNT.
The US will host the Copa América tournament this summer and the FIFA World Cup in 2026. Gregg Berhalter’s side are still looking to build chemistry ahead of those major international tournaments and the US coach is optimistic about the upcoming fixture.
“As we continue to build toward this summer’s Copa America and the 2026 FIFA World Cup, we relish the challenge of competing against the best possible opponents and Colombia checks that box,” Berhalter said.
“They have been a standout team in World Cup Qualifying and showcase some of the world’s top talent.”
What is the stadium for USMNT - Colombia?
FedExField in Landover, Maryland is set to be the stage for the game that will serve as the perfect warmup for the Copa América. The stadium, from 2004 until 2010, had the NFL’s largest seating capacity at over 91,000. However, in 2021, the venue’s capacity was reduced to 58,000. Currently the home of the Washington Commanders, it was opened in 1997 and has a real grass surface, and has hosted teams such as Real Madrid, Juventus and FC Barcelona. It will not be used for the 2026 World Cup, set to take place across the US, Mexico and Canada.
The game is set to take place on June 8 2024 at 5:30pm ET / 2:30pm PT, just 15 days before the USMNT get their Copa América campaign underway. The timing of the game is crucial, as Berhalter will want his side to be fully prepared in terms of both tactics and fitness, while he will be keeping his fingers crossed that everyone comes out of the tie unscathed. The Copa América begins on June 20.
The match will be broadcast live on TNT, Telemundo, Universo, Max and Peacock en Español and on Fútbol de Primera radio for those who cannot attend, with Fútbol RCN and Gol Caracaol providing the Colombian coverage. As for tickets, the official statement regarding the fixture says that “Tickets for the June 8 match at Fedex Field in Landover, MD go on sale to the public Friday, February 16 at 10 a.m ET. The pre-sale for this match will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 10 a.m. ET and run to Friday, Feb. 16 at 8 a.m. ET.”
Néstor Lorenzo team are in Group D alongside Brazil, Paraguay y CONCACAF 6 (Honduras or Costa Rica) while Berhalter’s squad are set up in Group C and will play Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay.
