Update:

USMNT duo Brenden Aaronson and Chris Richards limped off in their teams’ Premier League fixtures on Sunday, sparking concern with less than a month to go until the World Cup.

Leeds United midfielder Aaronson pulled up in the 58th minute of his team’s win over Brighton & Hove Albion, appearing to have sustained a left leg injury. He was attended to on the field by the Leeds medical team but was substituted immediately after, looked pained as he walked off.

Richards picked up a left ankle injury while playing for Crystal Palace against Brentford and needed to be helped off the field. The 26-year-old is one of few guaranteed starters under US head coach Mauricio Pochettino and his recovery pace is a real asset for the national team.

The USMNT World Cup opener sees the team take on Paraguay on June 12, but Pochettino will name his final 26-man squad for the tournament at a special event on May 26. That gives Aaronson and Richards little over a week to prove that they are fit enough to play a significant role at this summer’s World Cup.
