Real Madrid’s brilliant Brazilian broke the deadlock in the Champions League with a stunning goal.
Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior broke the deadlock at the Santiago Bernabéu against Manchester City with a thumping strike from distance.
The Brazilian star scored again against City with his 23nd strike of the season, his best goal-scoring campaign to date. Last season he notched 22 times and was named in both the La Liga and Champions League Team of the Seasons.
As he has matured under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti, Vini Jr’s output has skyrocketed. This season, in addition to his 23 goals the Brazilian has also contributed 21 assists in all competitions.
Vinicius’ 44 goal involvements in 51 games puts him among the best in Europe.

After Vinicius Jr scored the winner in last year’s Champions League final against Liverpool, he has continued that great form into this year’s competition.
His long-range strike against Manchester City on Tuesday was his seventh goal in just 11 appearances in the Champions League. Incredibly, he has either scored or assisted in all ten UCL games in which he has started this campaign.
He starred against Liverpool at Anfield, scoring twice and providing an assist to spark a thrilling turnaround after Madrid went two goals behind. After the win over last season’s finalists, Ancelotti was full of praise for the winger.
“Right now he’s the most influential player in world football,” Ancelotti told reporters. “No other player has this consistency”.
The Brazilian is clearly a player for the big occasion and he will be crucial to Madrid’s hopes of retaining the Champions League.
