It´s Argentina’s home away from home. The reigning World Cup champions are preparing to defend their title this summer, and Kansas City is making sure that their guests feel more than welcomed during their stay.

The Origin goes Albiceleste

There may not be a mate bar, or an Argentinian parrilla, but the hotel in which Argentinian national team will be staying in has gone above and beyond to make their gusts feel at home for the next few weeks. Albiceleste colors blanket the walls of the Origin Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri.

President of Argentinian Football Association, Claudio Tapia, released a video on X showing how the hotel prepared the hotel for the stay of the reigning World Cup champions. Almost every inch of the hotel is decorated to honor Lionel Messi and his teammates. From the hotel’s entrance to the halls to the rooms, pictures, murals and plenty of sky blue and white drape the inside and outside of the building on the banks of the Missouri River.

The five story, 118 room hotel is situated in the Berkley Riverfront area. It was constructed in 2024 in one of the up and coming areas of Kansas City. It’s a 20 minute drive from the training grounds of the Argentine side, and just 15 minutes from the Chiefs stadium, where Argentina will kick off their title defense campaign.

Move over Chiefs

As soon as you enter the premise you see Messi’s picture on the outside of the building and a message to the team saying “Vamos Argentina.” Other messages are printed on the walls saying “Juntos otra vez” (together again), “Coronado de gloria” (crowned from glory), and “Todos juntos” (All together). Meanwhile pictures of the heroes of this World Cup and last World Cup are hung all over the hotel. Messi, Dibu Martinez and Julian Alvarez are the most visible players around the hotel.

The Orgin Hotel will be the basecamp for Argentina over the next two weeks. Then the team will head off to Dallas where they will play their final two matches of the group stages. They are almost certain to move on to the from the group stages, and could return to Kansas City for a Round of 32 or a quarterfinal match that will eventually be played in KC.

Argentina will kickoff their World Cup from Kansas City on June 16th when they take Algeria. Then they will head south to Dallas for their final two matches of group stages. They play Austria from the Dallas Cowboys stadium on the 22nd of June and then will play Jordan on the 27th.
