After it was reported that the 39-year-old player entered preventive detention, the directors of Club Pumas announced his separation from the team.

“With the information that was shared today about the legal process facing the player Dani Alves, for which he is detained in Spain, we have decided to communicate the following: The Club Universidad Nacional has made the decision to terminate the employment contract with Dani Alves with justified cause from this day,” said Pumas president engineer Leopoldo Silva at a press conference.
