Linda Caicedo’s Colombia are to warm up for the 2023 Women’s World Cup with a friendly double-header against Panama next month.

Colombia to play Panama home and away

Las Cafeteras will go to Panama City on 17 June, before hosting the Panamanians in Cali four days later, in their final home game before flying out for the tournament in Australia and New Zealand.

Drawn in Group H alongside Germany, Morocco and South Korea, Colombia kick their World Cup campaign off on 24 July, when they face the Koreans in Sydney.

Panama will also be at the World Cup, having qualified for the first time in their history. Ignacio Quintana’s side are in Group F, together with France, Jamaica and Brazil.

Colombia, whose best performance at the tournament was their last-16 finish in 2015, head down under with a clear objective. “We’re out to change history and go further than we’ve ever gone before,” midfielder Leicy Santos has said.

Colombia to go to Central American and Caribbean Games

After their two friendlies against Panama, Nelson Abadía’s team are due to complete their World Cup preparations by appearing in the women’s soccer competition at the Central American and Caribbean Games.

In the nine-team event, which is to be held from 23 June to 8 July, the Colombians have been drawn in a first-round group with Jamaica, Mexico, Puerto Rico and hosts El Salvador.
