The highly anticipated 2026 World Cup Final between Spain and Argentina won’t just crown a new champion — it will mark a historic partnership between FIFA and Global Citizen, transforming the event into the largest simultaneous awareness and fundraising campaign soccer has ever seen.

Global Citizen: who they are and why they matter

Global Citizen is the world’s largest international advocacy organization focused on ending extreme poverty and expanding equitable access to education. For this World Cup, FIFA and the NGO signed a groundbreaking agreement aimed at merging the global reach of soccer with the storytelling power of entertainment to spark humanitarian impact on an unprecedented scale.

Their most visible role: producing the first halftime show in World Cup history.

A Super Bowl‑style halftime show with a mission

Global Citizen designed the entire 17‑minute halftime experience at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, assembling a lineup that reads like a once‑in‑a‑lifetime festival bill. Under the musical direction of Chris Martin, frontman of Coldplay, the show will feature:

  • Shakira
  • Madonna
  • BTS
  • Justin Bieber
  • Burna Boy
  • Triplets Ghetto Kids, the inspirational dance group from Uganda

It’s a spectacle built for global attention — but the real purpose goes far beyond entertainment.

The true goal: education for all

Behind the lights and star power, the halftime show serves as a megaphone for the FIFA–Global Citizen Education Fund.

The campaign aims to raise over $100 million to support quality schooling in marginalized communities across more than 200 countries. To reach that record‑breaking figure, the initiative has already been collecting $1 from every ticket sold throughout the tournament — funds that will also support FIFA’s broader humanitarian programs.

New York becomes the epicenter of global solidarity

The organization’s influence won’t stop at the stadium gates. During the final, Global Citizen will host a massive charity event in Central Park, gathering 50,000 fans to watch Spain and Argentina battle for the title on giant screens.

While the world watches the ball roll, New York will pulse with the largest synchronized awareness and fundraising effort ever tied to a soccer match.
