COPA AMÉRICA 2024
When is the deadline for teams to name their final rosters for the 2024 Copa América?
Argentina, Brazil and the USMNT are among the 16 teams finalising their preparations for the tournament in the United States.
Excitement continues to build for the 2024 Copa América, which will take place in the United States between Thursday 20 June and Sunday 14 July. Lionel Messi’s Argentina, Brazil and the USMNT are among the 16 teams finalising their preparations for the tournament, with head coaches now having to finalise their rosters.
How many players can teams take to the 2024 Copa América?
Unlike in the majority of recent editions of the Copa América, each nation is allowed to select a final list of 26 - rather than 23 - players, reduced from a larger preliminary roster which they submitted to CONMEBOL before 5 May.
With some countries having finished their warm-up games and others on the brink of doing so, the likes of Lionel Scaloni and Gregg Berhalter must decide which members of their extended roster to discard ahead of the tournament.
2024 Copa América final roster deadline
Managers of the competing teams at the 2024 Copa América have until 6:00 p.m. ET on Saturday 15 June to submit their final 26-man squads. As is the case for Euro 2024, any player who suffers a serious injury or illness can be replaced with another player from the provisional list up to 24 hours before his team’s first game of the tournament.
While some countries, including Brazil, Uruguay and Mexico, have already revealed their final squads for the tournament, others have opted to mull it over a little longer.
Following his team’s friendly draw against the Brazilians, Berhalter still has to cut one player from the USMNT’s preliminary roster, while three Argentina players will be left disappointed after their final warm-up game against Guatemala on Friday (14 June).
