When does Garnacho’s contract with United expire?
Garnacho will stay at United as the team seeks to extend his contract. The Argentinian was not called to the World Cup squad.
Talks over a new contract for Alejandro Garnacho are making progress at Manchester United. Despite speculations from the summer that his contract with United would expire the following year amidst interest from various teams, Garnacho is tied to the club until 2025.
Last year at United, Garnacho was able to break through and make his debut for the main squad while also contributing to the club’s victory in the FA Youth Cup. According to Manchester Evening News, the 18-year-old forward is widely considered the most exciting prospect in the club’s academy. It is expected that he will be rewarded with a new contract.
A rough start with Manchester United this year
United manager Erik ten Hag did not give Garnacho any playing time while the team was on tour. The only game he participated in during the preseason was the last friendly match against Rayo Vallecano. However, as Ten Hag disclosed, Garnacho was rewarded with a starting role versus Sheriff because he has demonstrated an “improved mentality” in recent weeks.
“The start was difficult for him in the season. I was not happy with him, but in the last weeks I was happy with him, a better attitude, more resilience, more determination.” Said the Manchester United coach.
Real Madrid keeping tabs on the United player
United successfully beat off Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund to acquire Garnacho from Atletico Madrid in September 2020 for a transfer price of £420,000. Garnacho came to United from Atletico Madrid. In addition to making his debut for United’s first team, Garnacho was called up to Argentina’s senior squad in March. However, he has not yet competed for Argentina at the international level.
Rumors of a move next year in the summer of 2023 are false. As mentioned before, his contract expires in 2025.
