When does the Premier league season end? LaLiga? Bundesliga? European soccer winding down

The European season is coming to a dramatic close - when are the final match days?

LaLiga trophy

As the number of match days decreases at a rapid speed, heart rates fire in the opposite direction. European football is racing towards a dramatic conclusion across all the major leagues in the continent, and the tension is high among fans who have no fingernails left.

But when do the leagues end? And which teams look like the likely winners of their major domestic honours?

Premier League final match day

The Premier League season ends on May 19, where all the teams kick-off at 4pm local time (11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT). That is match day 38/38, with all of Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City in the race for the title.

As for relegation, anyone between Everton, Nottingham Forest and Luton could all face the drop. Sorry, Burnley fans, but I think it’s over for you. I won’t even mention Sheffield United and remind their fans the football club exists.

If you want more English football drama, check out the Championship, England’s second division, where four teams (Leicester, Ipswich, Leeds, Southampton) are trying to squeeze into two promotion places in a genuinely historic season.

LaLiga final match day

The LaLiga season ends on May 26 and there are 6 more rounds to go. As is usual in Spain and across Europe, all the games will be played simultaneously, we just don’t know at what time. Our best guess is the middle of the afternoon in Spain, which would be in the morning if we look at ET and PT. However, it’s Spain, so nothing is confirmed until a later date.

As for who will win the title, it looks like Carlo Ancelotti will lead Real Madrid to the title, with Barcelona, Girona and Atlético Madrid all in behind. But don’t forget about Copa del Rey champions Athletic Club, who are making areal push late on to get a Champions League place.

In terms of the relegation battle, Almería and Granada look like they’ll be playing Segunda División football next season. After that there’s Cádiz, Celta and possibly Rayo who all look pretty terrible and any of them could end up relegated.

LaLiga match day 38 key fixtures:

Real Madrid - Real Betis

Sevilla - Barcelona

Girona - Granada

Real Sociedad - Atlético Madrid

Rayo Vallecano - Athletic Club

Celta - Valencia

Almería - Cádiz

Bundesliga final match day

The Bundesliga is all wrapped up, and Bayer Leverkusen are the league champions for the first time in their history, ending Bayern Munich’s 12-year run.

As for when the season ends, it’s set to come to a conclusion on May 18, which is match day 34/34. Things work a little differently in Germany, with a relegation playoff taking place for the team that finishes 16th in the table while the bottom two go down automatically. It looks like Darmstadt plus one of Köln, Mainz, VfL Bochum, Wolfsburg and possibly Union Berlin.

Bundesliga match day 34 key fixtures:

Union Berlin - Hoffenheim

Wolfsburg - Mainz

Dortmund - Darmstadt

Werder Bremen - Vfl Bochum

Heidenheim - Köln

The action doesn’t stop there, as Italy’s Serie A has around 5 teams who are all fearing relegation, while Spain’s second division is as tight as a duck’s tail feathers.

Relegation nerves are something no fan wants to go through but something that every fan - in my opinion - should have to suffer at sone point in their lives! There is nothing like it and that’s why the European game is so enticing every year at this point in the calendar!
