Less than two months since their defeat at the hands of Argentina in the 2024 Copa America, tonight, Colombia has an opportunity to avenge the Miami defeat as they face the World Cup champions in Barranquilla.

The Roberto Meléndez Metropolitan Stadium on the northern Pacific coast city will be packed for the matchday 8 clash of the World Cup qualifiers with Argentina topping the table against the undefeated Colombians.

Néstor Lorenzo’s team come into the contest fresh from their 1-1 draw against Peru with Los Cafeteros sitting in third place in the general table for the World Cup qualifiers with the top six all progressing to the 2026 tournament and the seventh placed side entering an intercontinental play-off.

Lionel Scaloni’s team beat Chile (3-0) at the Monumental Stadium in matchday 7 and top the table with 18 points and will have to cope without captain and playmaker Lionel Messi with the Inter Miami man still recovering from injury.
